When shadow fading is enabled, path loss is not uniform even at locations that are equidistant from the gNB. This behavior follows the propagation characteristics defined in Table 7.4.1-1 of the 3GPP TR 38.900 standard.

This variation occurs due to multipath propagation. Even at equal distances from the gNB, signals arrive through multiple paths, and their interaction can be either constructive or destructive. As a result, the received signal strength and hence the path loss varies across locations.

If a uniform Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is required at all points equidistant from the gNB, shadow fading should be disabled.

Recommended Configuration To eliminate shadowing effects, configure the channel model as follows:

Set Shadow Fading Model to NONE. Go to gNB -> Interface-5G_RAN -> Physical-Layer -> Channel-Model -> Shadow_Fading_Model ->NONE
