Unlike the traditional routing protocols employed in Wireless sensor devices, the clustering algorithm helps in optimizing the efficiency by increasing the network lifetime. This is achieved by dividing the sensors into groups or clusters. Further, a cluster head is elected in each cluster which takes care of collecting the packets from the sensor devices and then forwards them to the Sinknode/ 6LoWPAN gateway. 


By default, the sensor nodes support routing protocols such as DSR, AODV, ZRP, OLSR, RPL etc. To implement clustering algorithms in NetSim, code modifications are necessary. Users can write the algorithm in C or invoke existing algorithms in MATLAB. Several such examples are available in NetSim File Exchange - https://www.tetcos.com/file-exchange.html
