A slot planner can be used to configure a predefined slot allocation pattern for the nodes in the network. Based on the configuration done, slots will be allocated to the devices during the simulation. Multiple/continuous slots can be allocated to the same node or to different nodes as per the requirement.
- Create a network scenario in NetSim TDMA Radio Network and configure applications. An example is shown below.
- In the wireless nodes set the protocol to DTDMA in Interface_1 (Wireless) datalink layer. To configure any properties in the nodes, click on the node, expand the property panel on the right side, and change the properties as mentioned in the below steps.
- To access Slot planner, set the slot allocation Technique to FILE BASED
- Click on Configure Slot Planner to open the DTDMA Slot Planner window.
- Enter the number of slots. The slot cycle would repeat accordingly.
- Use the radio buttons to allocate a specific slot to a particular device matching the row which contains the device name and the column which contains the slot id.
Assign slots as you wish. In this example we assign 1 slot to N1 and N5, 2 slots each to N2, N3, and 3 slots to N4. We set the allocation pattern as N1, N3, N4, N2, N5.
- Click on OK button to apply the configured pattern.
- Enable packet trace and event trace options and run the simulation.
- At the end of the simulation click on the traces in left hand side of the results window to access the event trace.
- In the column Subevent_type, filter only DTDMA_SCHEDULE_Transmission
- After applying the filter, in the column Device_Id you will be able to observe the slot allocation pattern as per the configuration done in GUI. Wireless Node1, 3, 4, 2 and 5 , which is equivalent to Device Id 1, 3,3,4,4,4,2,2,5
