In NetSim, Packet Trace and Event Trace files are very useful for in-depth simulation analysis. These files provide details of the packet flow and event execution during simulation. By default, these traces are not enabled; users can enable and access them as needed.
Enabling Packet Trace & Event Trace
By default, Packet Trace and Event Trace are disabled in NetSim. To enable them:
- Navigate to the Configure Reports tab in the top ribbon.
- Check both Packet Trace and Event Trace options.
Accessing Packet Trace & Event Trace Files
- Users can find the Traces option at the top left-hand side (LHS) of the Result Dashboard.
- Clicking on this option allows navigation to Packet Trace and Event Trace files.
- After clicking on Packet Trace or Event Trace, the corresponding file will load as an Excel file containing all relevant information. This Excel file will include detailed trace data, such as packet information or event details, organized in various columns for easy analysis
MS Excel Requirements
To view and analyse Packet Trace and Event Trace files, Microsoft Excel is required. All versions from Excel 2013 onwards are compatible with these trace files.
